Do I Need A Sign?

Q: Do I need a Sign?

A: Yes, if you have a desire to advertise your business, potential customers and even some of your existing clients will more easily find your store location if it is clearly marked by signage.

Q: What kind of sign should I put up?

A: Some effective signs used to drive customers to your location are monument faces, channel letters, window graphics, banners, and a-frame signs, just to name a few. Whether you own your own building or are leasing a location, your sign of choice will need to comply with local sign code. Each municipality has its own regulations and usually set by the planning and zoning departments.

Q: Do I need landlord or homeowner's association approval for my sign?

A: Within your lease agreement, many landlords include sign criteria that may possibly state the type, style, color or your local sign company can assist you with permit regulations, costs and length of time that a sign may be kept on display.

Q: Is a permit required for my sign?

A: Signs that are visible to an adjoining property or right of way usually require a permit. Your municipal sign code or your local sign company can assist you with permit regulations, costs and length of time that a sign may be kept on display.

Q: Can I apply for a sign permit?

A: Some municipalities allow and individual to apply for a permit, but they may require a licensed sign contractor to file an applications, especially for electrical and/or large monument style signs.

Q: How much will a permit cost?

A: The cost of permit varies widely depending on the type of sign and the municipality rate structure.

Q: What will happen if I put up my sign without a permit?

A: If a local code enforcement officer sees your "illegal" sign at the very least they will insist that you get your sign permitted. You can also be ordered to remove your sign and fined for lack of compliance. SIGN A RAMA Arizona Stores have experts who work with municipality personnel and will ensure you stay compliant with your local sign criteria.

Q: How much will my sign cost?

A: Again the size and complexity of the sign are the two largest factors when determining the cost of your sign. Signs that are illuminated are generally considered more expensive that those that are not, but the size and style of letters can also greatly influence cost.

Q: Why is a sign so important?

A: Whether you are a new or existing business it is important to establish a unique or special "Identity" to help establish your business image and set you apart from your competition, signage can effectively do this for you. Take time to visit your local sign professional at SIGN A RAMA Arizona Stores and working together your signage will reflect your business, increase your revenue and take your business to the next level.

Sign Design Tips

Contrary to popular belief, graphic design is not all about artistic skill. A variety of external factors, including everything from personal taste to raw talent, play a big role in how your design will turn out. Recognizing the importance of these outside influences on the success of the design process, we set out to develop a web site chock full of tools that would allow our customers to confidently create their own designs.

While anyone can dabble in the craft, some people are just better at it than others. If you're one of those less fortunate, not-so-artistic types, not to worry. By following the guidelines we've set forth below, you should have no trouble designing a respectable sign, banner or vehicle layout, no matter your pre-existing artistic ability.

  1. Choose colors that will not blend together and opt for combination's that are easy on the eyes. While red on black is not a very readable choice, if that is what you want, fine. Keep in mind, however, that by choosing tone-on-tone variations you are sacrificing readability. If your potential customers can't easily read your sign, chances are they'll ignore it. Over the long haul, that can result in a significant loss of business. In most cases, the farther away you can read your advertisement the better. Some good color selections are yellow with black, yellow with green, white with any dark color (i.e. blue with white, red with white, etc.). The key is to choose colors that sharply contrast each other so as to leap off the design. If you're still set on using dark combination's, like red on black, consider outlining the edge of your letters in white. This technique allows for separation between the colors and will attract your audience's eye much better.....Read More»</p>
